Requirements by Company Type
Corporation
- Copy of Articles of Incorporation certified by Secretary of State or a government entity
- Tax ID Number
- Designate beneficiary at time of opening account
Partnership
- Copy of Partnership Paper
- Tax ID Number
- Designate beneficiary at time of opening account
Trust
- Copies of the Title and Signature Pages of the Trust Document
- Tax ID Number
- Designate beneficiary at time of opening account
Non-Profit 501(c)(3)
- Copy of ruling of determination letter from IRS
- Tax ID Number
- Designate beneficiary at time of opening account
- Use account maintenance form to designate a beneficiary

Highlighted below are a couple current scholarship programs that partner with The Education Plan.
Saving for Success Award
The Saving for Success Award helps New Mexico students fund their dreams for the future with an education savings account. Each year up to 50 eligible K-8 students who are residents of New Mexico receive a Saving for Success Award of $1,000 invested in a 529 education savings account with The Education Plan®.
The Saving for Success Award is administered through the New Mexico Community Trust. Applications for the Award typically open in January.
National Junior Honor Society Outstanding Achievement Award
The National Junior Honor Society Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes middle-level students for their commitment to the five pillars of NJHS: scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. The 500 NJHS students selected for the Outstanding Achievement Award receive a $500 education savings plan to support their educational aspirations.
Applications for the Award typically open in November.
